FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the international crisis response sector. Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.
This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.
Anticipated Duration: mid-May - mid-August 2023
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week, but negotiable
Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

- Understanding of global emergency humanitarian technical and operational challenges and opportunities during
a rapid response.
- Practical experience with a large, global non-profit organization.
- Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with successful research, technical, program
Management, and/or business development professionals.
- Experience working with an inter-disciplinary team implementing humanitarian programming
Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The FHI 360 Crisis Response Team is currently expanding our collaboration with the Research and Evaluation Strategy
Team to build out a comprehensive Research Agenda that applies to the current crises and patterns within the global
humanitarian space. The Crisis Response Team is seeking a motivated and organized intern to assist in analyzing the
existing systemic reviews and evidence maps related to the latest humanitarian trends for the Crisis Response Team to
better understand their strategy for upcoming responses. The intern will also contribute to various project activities
under both the Technical, Programmatic, and Business Development teams.
The intern may contribute to various team or project activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following
ways:
- Contribute to the research agenda for humanitarian responses by conducting research
- Conduct desk research on country profiles on an as needed basis
- Organize and participate in team meetings and country calls
- Contribute to program management-related tasks, as required
- Contribute to department-related presentations, blogs, reports and/or manuscripts
- Assist in the development and finalization of Crisis Response-related Tools
- Assist in the development of funding concept notes, proposals, or other BD-related documents and annexes, as well as capacity statements as needed
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Currently an upper-level student enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or a current master's student enrolled in a program for Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Studies, Gender Studies, Management, Environmental Science, Human Rights, Communications, or a related field of study
- Demonstrated interest in international humanitarian or emergency programs through studies and/or work experience
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
- Strong writing and research skills
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
