Spotter/Switcher

Spotter/Yard Switcher are required to perform all yard management services in accordance with the best standards of the transportation industry and in compliance with FHI policies and procedures.

Job Functions:
- Move trailers on property as directed by customer personnel or systems
- Verif seals and perform any load status yard checks as required by facility
- Perform trailer safety checks including, but not limited to, sliding tandem axles (if required).
- Red Tag trailers if needed.
- Must obey any and all applicable traffic laws while conducting its operations on behalf of the customer.
- Will obey all facility traffic and safety rules as required by specific facilities
- Adhere here to appropriate training records and sign off procedures as required by each facility
- Participate in continuous improvement processes
- Maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) schedule for equipment.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Basic math skills
- Steel toed safety shoes are required
- Expected to work productively and safely
- Combination equipment and backing experience
- You must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening
- Previous switching experience a plus
- Safe driving record; No DUI, DWI, or impaired driving in the last 7 years, No more than 3 points on driving record at time of hire
- Must possess a current drivers license
- Must possess a current drivers license
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
- Lift, carry, and move materials weighing 25 – 80 lbs
- Walking, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, lifting, and kneeling are all required physical aspects of the job.
- Work in temperatures as low as -20 degrees in cold storage sites or up to 110 degrees in dry storage sites while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and shift, including weekends if needed.
- The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, or alarms) in moderate to loud work environments.
