The Role
The Fidelity Institutional Technology group is looking for a highly motivated systems analyst to be part of its diverse, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity’s Institutional Client Platforms and Products.
The focus of this position will entail analysis and support of the Wealthscape application, specifically focusing on the design and build out of the Wealthscape Analytics application and a unified user experience across Analytics and Reporting applications. A successful systems analyst will be a key member of an agile delivery squad and will also be involved in solutioning with our Squad Leads / Product Owners to gather & document business requirements, helping with current state analysis of our Analytics and Reporting systems, helping define our technology design solution, and partnering with QA in test case preparation.
- Examine and analyze existing IT systems and business models and identify requirements
- Understand and contributing to the scalable unified advisor experience
- Data research and validation for new deployment
- Write User Stories which include concise and clear system requirements which will be used by developers to implement
- Produce use case documents, functional solutions and system diagraming
- Develop subject matter expertise for assigned components
- Participate in the development and review of test plans by QA
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required. Technology-related discipline preferred
- 2-5 years systems analysis experience
- Experience with systems development methodologies and formal documentation processes. Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience is expected
- Brokerage or Financial Services experience preferred
- Basic understanding of database structure and design
- Proactive, detail-oriented, team player who understands how systems applications can provide solutions to business problems and objectives
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills including negotiation and influence
- Ability to multi-task across a variety of tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to effectively take the lead on issues, and gain resolution in a timely manner
- An understanding of how systems applications can provide solutions to business problems and objectives
The Value You Deliver
- Provide systems analysis support on an Agile team that includes multiple business and technology partners (cross business unit, cross domain).
- Collaborate with multiple other Agile teams (Scaled Agile) to lead dependencies and scope.
- Work with business and technology partners to define the scope of problems/issues, in terms of business and/or system requirements and processes.
- Work with Agile team to develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and story maps.
- Participate in backlog refinement sessions. Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable, requirements/user stories. Collaborate with Agile team members to research and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Evaluate design of existing systems to judge their functionality, efficiency, reliability, performance, usage, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
- Collaborate with Agile team members to build comprehensive and cohesive solution approaches.
- Provide support in estimating, planning, scheduling, and prioritizing work.
- Apply documentation standards and best practices.
The Team
Fidelity Institutional provides products and services to banks, broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, family offices, and other financial intermediaries to meet their brokerage and banking needs. The FI technology platform is delivered to these external clients, primarily via web-based and mobile applications, application programming interfaces, transmission files, and collaborates with third-party applications. Some of these offerings include trading, account servicing and maintenance, account opening and money movement, reporting, analytics, and data delivery and presentation.a
