JOB SUMMARY:
The Seafood Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The Seafood Manager is held accountable for the department's results in providing customer service, increasing sales, improving margin, and controlling shrink. Follows company guidelines for the implementation of the merchandising program. Trains, schedules, supervises, and assigns duties to seafood clerks.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Seafood Manager is accountable for:
Store Operations
- Maintaining an adequate inventory level for Seafood products and supplies
- Responsible for Seafood department budget, expenses, labor and shrink.
- Enforcing established programs, which comply with city codes, health regulations, weights and measure regulations and ensuring standards in all departments are being met
- Following approved procedures for weighing and displaying Seafood products
- Check and verify Seafood department orders and shipments when required
- Keep refrigerated cases and display shelves properly stocked and faced at all times according to product movement and department standards
- Ensuring freshness and high product quality
- Code dating and rotating all prepared seafood or product placed in temporary storage areas to ensure proper product rotation, quality and freshness
- Following department sanitary procedures and work methods to extend product life styles
- Follows department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished product
- Adhere to all company and operations standards, policies and procedures
- Attend weekly department manager meetings and communicate updates with team
Sales/Customer Service
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for customers and employees
- Proactive in preventing and resolving customer service situations
- Developing methods that help build customer loyalty and expand customer base
Employee Development
- Building and maintaining a positive working relationship with employees and peers
- Executing and communicating company procedures and policies in a manner consistent with Bodega Latina Corporation’s mission statement
- Motivating and inspiring team in reaching high performance and in providing friendly customer service
- Managing the development and performance of department employees
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- 1-2 years working in the Seafood department
- 2-3 years in a supervisory level position
Preferred Field of Expertise
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards for large-scale Seafood operation
- Ability to read, write and follow instruction
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others
- Knowledge of basic math skills, i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole and fractional numbers, count and decimal systems
- Ability to provide on the job training in food preparation to lower level employees
- Must be able to provide a Food Handling card (If needed)
Skills
- Communication – written and oral skills (Bilingual English/Spanish is a Plus)
- Problem identification and resolution
Work Environment
- Must be able to work under Cold Temperature 0º-35º
Job Requirements
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting (50 pounds), bending, standing stooping for prolonged periods
