Who are we?
As a vital member of our Strategy organization, our team researches emerging trends and technology, peeking around corners to identify threats and opportunities for the bank (customer, employees) and the sector as a whole. “Learn by doing” is our motto and we weave our lessons into stories depicting the future of finance. Our work directly informs the Bank’s leadership and influences decisions about how we prioritize and invest in building that future.

What will you be doing?
- Staying current on consumer and enterprise technology and trends, financial services, and fintechs
- Triaging topics for investigation and working with stakeholders to select focus areas
- Diving into focus areas to understand their mechanics, potential, relevance, and immediacy
- Playing and building with cutting-edge technologies, as needed, to enhance understanding and develop competency
- Engaging senior leadership across the bank to inform and inspire with opportunities derived from our research
- Recommending (and building or leading) prototypes to demonstrate our findings and opportunities in practice
- Developing strategies to transform financial offerings and customer experiences based on our findings, producing future-back roadmaps to direct the bank toward these opportunities
What are we looking for?
- Restless Curiosity – a desire to continue learning, peeling the onion to understand technology, customer needs, and market forces
- Storytelling – the ability to distill weeks of learning and analysis into a relatable, compelling story told through the medium most relevant to the audience and topic (prose, charts, posters, visual prototypes, mockups, etc)
- Technical Acumen – the ability to approach a new technical domain and rapidly assimilate the core benefits, risks, and methodologies required to apply it. Development skills not required but encouraged.
- Industry Experience – knowledge or past practice in a related or similar field such as financial services, banking, payments, management consulting, insurance, healthcare or pharma
- Collaborative Orientation – the ability to communicate and share responsibility and accountability across our small team to achieve our goals
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in a "STEM" Major (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), or Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design with relevant years of job experience.
- 4 years of experience in a field that directly or readily translates to the responsibilities of this role.
- Basic understanding of agile product development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exposure and/or training in Design Thinking principles and methodologies is advantageous.
- Demonstrates passion and focus on the total holistic customer experience, including all five senses.
- Works iteratively. Decides and acts appropriately when all available information may not be possible to obtain. Makes small informed decisions and course correct as a result of feedback to those decisions.
