What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator position at Fimco Industries?
Laser Operator Summary:
The Laser Operator is responsible for all activities within the laser area including, but not limited to, cutting, selecting, and loading material onto the laser tables.
Laser Operator Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:
- Operate two lasers
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Cut and select material
- Load and unload steel with a forklift
- Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are kept in an orderly manner and are in always working conditions
- Perform daily maintenance activities – TPM
- Perform thorough end-of-the-day clean-up activities
- Practice Fimco’s 5S guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Laser Operator Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED (or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- 3 years of experience operating laser equipment
- 3 years of experience operating forklifts or heavy equipment in a manufacturing environment
Laser Operator Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Mechanically inclined
- Ability to properly use a sheet metal gauge and an understanding of sheet thickness
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to work independently
Laser Operator Physical Demands:
- Physical bending and turning
- Lifting (60 lbs.)
- Withstanding long periods of time on the shop floor
- Ability to tolerate elevated temperatures, dust, and noise levels
