Position Summary: This position is responsible for suppling information and work orders to the Production Departments that support new construction and repair project schedules at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000 working men and women on our waterfront by developing and maintaining AutoCAD drawings that describes work in process; issuing and maintaining steel inventory; requisitioning outfitting related materials and equipment; and assisting in developing and maintaining short range schedules.
Detailed Description:
- Aid in generating estimates by calculating data for steel weights, quantification of weld, lineal feet of pipe, quantity and specification of pipe fittings, length and type of electrical cable, or other criteria as directed.
- Maintain steel plate and shape inventory.
- Responsible for generating steel requirements for stock and project material.
- Responsible for daily material receipts and issue.
- Assist in resolving physical inventory count versus database inventory.
- Primary liaison between lofting, engineering and production.
- Respond to questions posed by lofting and production personnel regarding structural drawing interpretation.
- Assist in incorporating fabrication methodology into structural subassemblies and modules.
- Prioritize lofting sequence based on master schedule (both outsource and in-house lofting efforts).
- Assist fabrication superintendent in establishing computer generated detail schedules for fabricating sequence, completion and flow of structural subassemblies, units and modules.
- Assist fabricating personnel in interpretation of drawings and work orders.
- Provide this information by AutoCAD generated drawings, sketches or verbal communication.
- Generate shop work orders comprised of scheduled start/completion, equipment allocation, process, material charge, job accounting and part definition.
- Assist in evaluating components for possible outsourcing.
- Assist outfitting trades; electrical, piping, machinery, and paint in the development of outfitting information and work orders.
- Aid in requisitioning of materials to suit developed schedules.
- Provide answers for production related questions and problems.
- Develop and maintain performance to budget and schedule for various production departments and communicate those results across various levels within management.
- Responsible for development of low level schedules based on construction milestones.
- Monitor and report performance and progress of those items.
- Will assist in maintaining “as built” drawings.
- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in administration, management control and/or accounting of technical services
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in successful task leadership or supervisory role, demonstrating strong organizational and task leadership skills
- Must be able to read and interpret ship blueprints. Special emphasis on structural blueprint along with knowledge of mechanical and piping
- Must be adept in AutoCAD
- Must have knowledge and skills in computer software programs, including Microsoft word and excel systems
