What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Sprinkler Pipe Fitter position at Fire Systems of Texas, LLC.?
OVERVIEW: This position will be responsible to assist in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge fire protection piping, valves and accessories for commercial, residential buildings, and industrial applications in compliance with current codes. Experience beneficial but not required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities of a Fire Sprinkler Fitter include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the installation and repair of fire sprinkler systems per specifications Communicate with foreman safety hazards and discrepancies found on job site
- Maintain vehicle inventory and keep company owned vehicle and tools clean and organized
- Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times while on job sites, operating a company vehicle, or on company property, including wearing required PPE
- Ability to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Adhere to company safe working policies and procedures at all times
- Load and unload materials to and from delivery trucks, ensuring that they are safely moved to storage sites or work areas.
- Assist supervisors with clerical duties.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- Help in arranging and hanging pipe
- Under supervision selects specified type and size of pipe
- Assists in the installation of valves, couplings and other fittings
- Assists in the lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation
- Follows proper construction practices and company policy
- Understands and practices the proper use of power and hand tools
- Responsible for site clean-up, unloading, staging, and distributing work material to other employees at a job site
- Performs minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment
- Cut and thread pipe
- May install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Foreman.
- Receives guidance and direction regarding day to day work tasks from a Foreman
SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS 1-5 years’ industry experience a plus but not required. Will train a qualified applicant.
- Experience with plumbing a plus as work involves PVC
- Must have excellent communication skills and positive customer service attitude
- Pass pre-employment background and drug screenings
- Ability to perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as working within ducts, crawl spaces, climbing a ladder, outside in the heat or cold, on lift equipment, or dirty environments.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds above head
- Ability to take direction
- Must be able to read a tape measure and have some hand and power tool usage experience
- Plan reading and interpretation a plus
- Ability to work on lifts and at heights with appropriate safety equipment and tie offs Basic Math and computation skills are required
- Must be reliable and able to follow verbal work instructions/directions
- Must be able to follow through on assigned tasks, and exhibit the initiative to learn the skills of the trade
- Have the ability to read labels, signage and directions
- Must have dependable transportation to get to and from place of work.
- Preferred: Construction trade experience demonstrated mechanical skills or related training
