Theater Teacher

Firelight KIDS provides premier enrichment programs for kids in Lancaster, Massachusetts. Firelight Classes run during the school year at various days, times and locations. We are currently seeking one more theater teacher with the energy of a camp counselor to learn and train alongside Firelight founder and lead teacher, Katie Schiering. Our classes are 50-minutes of FUN-based learning with preparation for a final show built in to each weekly class. We offer programs for 3 years - 5th grade with plans to expand into Middle School next year.

The celebratory shows at the end of each 10-week session are a terrific experience for the cast, their families and the community. The teachers (directors) are engaged during the production as narrators, so confidence in public speaking is an asset here. Comfortability communicating with parents about their children's triumphant (and difficult) moments is a must.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) EDUCATION: B.A. in Education or 2 years recent classroom experience AND

2) EXPERIENCE: Children's Theater Directing experience OR TYA Education/Performance Experience OR Performing experience WITH additional non-related teaching experience

Compensation: Theater teachers will be compensated based on their experience level and amount of training needed before leading classes with an assistant. Admin time is minimum wage but teaching hours are between $25 and $50 an hour.

Schedule: Saturdays 11-2, Tuesdays and Thursdays 3-6

Session Dates: October 6th - December 11th

Extra Dates: Saturday December 10th and Sunday December 11th are all day paid events - performances for each class are held on these days. Teachers are REQUIRED to be available for all dates. Other addl dates may be needed based on mutual availability.

Training Dates: TBD based on mutual availability
