CRA RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE LENDING OFFICER
Job Summary:
Originates Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) loans in an assigned community market serving primarily low to moderate income borrowers and focus on Fair Lending Initiative by providing loans to the entire community. Develops referral relationships with realtors, builders, bankers, and other sources for the purpose of originating residential loans through ongoing sales efforts. Takes mortgage applications, conducts preliminary reviews, and submits loan applications to processing. Remains the front line contact with customers and realtors for follow up documentation needed to approve and close loan. Deepens customer relationships by cross selling other bank products. Incumbents are customarily and regularly engaged in making and soliciting loan sales and conducting sales-related activities away from FirstBank Florida locations. Incumbents are expected to spend a minimum of 50% of their time conducting their activities away from FirstBank locations.
Essential Responsibilities:
“Employee must comply with all requirements related to the Secure and Fair Enforcement Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act) and its corresponding regulations, including, but not limited to, obtain and maintain an active record and a unique identifier within the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLSR), continue to meet said record and associated minimum register standards, including any applicable continuing education courses set forth by the Safe Act.”
- Communicates, organizes and maintains relationships with Non-Profit and Community Reinvestment Organizations.
- Ensures that 50% of his/her production is related to FirstBank’s Community Reinvestment Act Program.
- Conducts First Time Homebuyer Seminars as necessary to reach the Banks CRA and Fair Lending Objectives/Initiative.
- Markets Real-Estate loans to realtors, builders, and other spheres of influence by facilitating presentations, attending events, and cold calling.
- Originates loans in accordance with FirstBank’s lending policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Enters all loan applicants into the Encompass system, and run DU and credit reports.
- Provide the processing team with all necessary contact information, including but not limited to Realtor, access to property and closing agent.
- Interviews and guides prospective customers, enabling customers to select the best FirstBank product for their needs.
- Completes full mortgage loan application (1003), gathers initial documentation, and sets the expectations for customers, realtors, and builders as to appropriate timeframes and targets.
- Communicates any and all additional and required documentation to customers.
- Originates all mortgage loans in accordance with all Federal, State, FirstBank, and Investor guidelines.
- Submits completed applications in a timely manner to the Processors for disclosure within the three (3) days of application as required by Federal regulations.
- Provides processors and underwriters with updates on any material changes that may take place during the loan process.
- Evaluates documents provided by the customer and re-runs DU when appropriate.
- Monitors progress of approval through closing.
- Supports the team with the gathering of any additional information required and all communication with the customer and referral source.
- Represents the Bank in functions within the community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business Administration or related field
- 2 years of experience in a similar job is required or equivalent combination of education and experience banking and/or lending industry
- 2 years of experienced in financial products, loan documentation, and business objectives of a real-estate lending department
- Completion of approved real-estate training program a plus.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office
- Bilingual- Able to speak English and Spanish preferred
