In the last year our engineers built a 2MW hydrogen fuel cell and battery powerplant to retrofit a three-story, 300-metric-ton-capacity diesel haul truck; designed the power source and refueling system for the world’s first endurance race vehicle to be powered by liquid hydrogen; and delivered spaceflight hardware headed 370 million kilometers from Earth to asteroid 16 Psyche.

    First Mode is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager whose primary responsibility is the end-to-end project delivery of Technology projects including: scoping, project management, execution, and transition to business-as-usual support models helping us support a rapidly growing team of world-class engineers enabling the First Mode business and its staff to deliver their best work. The role is exciting and diverse delivering projects such as SaaS (Software/Service as a Service) rollouts, IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) rollouts, New premises and/or relocations, Network deployment & migrations, Cloud implementations, and workstation or large hardware / software rollouts. 


    You will work as part of a wider Technology function, reporting to the Director of IT, and will provide high quality technical delivery and guidance to customers and colleagues. You will bring us extensive experience working in a complex environment and demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills. The Technology function lives that success comes from people, process, and technology, in that order. 


    This means both supporting and growing the digital infrastructure needed to allow our team to work every day; network, infrastructure, and communications on multiple continents, and enabling First Mode's strategic use of technology for its own competitive advantage. 

     

    Position Responsibilities


    You will be responsible, along with product owners and third-party vendors, for the ongoing management and delivery of: 

    • Internal and external projects 
    • Ownership and project lifecycle 
    • Business analysis, solution selection, and scope definition 
    • Project governance, project management (scope, vendors, stakeholders, budget, delivery) and customer experience 
    • Define with stakeholders a Project charter 
    • Provide accurate reporting to all stakeholders including project plans, schedules, financial management, changes, risk / issue and dependency registers and work in progress status reporting. 
    • Oversee and coordinate technology and systems implementation, maintenance, and transition to business-as-usual support 
    • Communicate to management and customer by keeping them informed of progress, notifying them of impending changes and agreed outages etc. 
    • Driving operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives 
    • Provide key input on the company’s technical roadmap, identify bottlenecks before they impede company execution 
    • Inspire the digital uplift of the First Mode business through technology advocation, continuous end user technology education, and demonstrating digital best practice 
    • Represent First Mode with integrity and professionalism   

     

    Basic Qualifications 

     

    • 2  years project delivery experience
    • Demonstrated experience in project delivery/management ( manage and deliver projects, planning and project team management) 
    • Proven technical background, with experience leading, scoping (requirements analysis), planning (effort estimation) and management of multiple projects (sequencing), across multiple sites, delivering agreed outcomes within the defined timeframe and budget 
    • Technical Ability – from a Level 2 or higher support role, systems/network engineer or application configuration background. 
    • Knowledge of the following Cloud Services: AWS / Azure Cloud Technologies, Microsoft 365 Technologies, SaaS / IaaS 


    Preferred Qualifications 


    • Proven ability to produce a variety of pragmatic project management documentation 
    • Excellent communication and customer facing skills with the ability to discuss technical content in an everyday relatable way 
    • Ability to succeed in remote working such as overseas locations, cultural differences, and split time-zones to ensure positive interactions 
    • Highly collaborative with an appetite for self-development, learning and knowledge sharing 
    • Project Management certification or methodology knowledge highly desirable 
    • Relationship management experience 
    • Experience in establishing, documenting, sharing, and maintaining a pragmatic project delivery approach based on industry methodologies well regarded 
    • Understanding of contemporary infosec principles and practices. 
    • A degree or qualification in relevant studies 
    • Solid understanding of how Information Technology applies to infrastructure, including networking, WAN, firewalls, storage, desktop refresh, peripherals,, and building technology infrastructure 
    • Strong influencing and negotiating skills in dealings with team members, stakeholders, vendors, and senior management 
    • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and how it applies to Service Management 
    • Exposure to Engineering, Manufacturing, Mining, or major corporation with complex IT environments

    Additional Requirements


    • Must be able to travel between First Mode's U.S. sites with potential to travel to other locations 
    • Occasional need to work flexible hours to support business technology requirements (e.g., project rollouts or unplanned outages) 


    Location


    • This position will be located at First Mode’s headquarters in Seattle, WA and will be required to work in office >60% of working hours
