NON-EXEMPT JOB TITLE: Credit Analyst


REPORTS TO: Head Credit Analyst


POSITION SUMMARY: Develop and analyze credit information pertaining to diversified types of agricultural, commercial and retail loans. Perform portfolio risk assessment analysis. Complete annual credit reviews. Monitor loan policy exceptions and provide periodic reports. Prepare for audits and examinations of loan files.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job Specific

  • Order and analyze lien searches, business credit reports and credit bureau reports.
  • Prepare analysis of financial and operation trends of companies and markets. Analyze strengths and weaknesses.
  • Work directly with Lenders, Loan Processors and Lending Assistants to prepare credit/loan presentations for new and existing relationships. Presentations may include a complete analysis of financial statements, collateral valuations, payment history, risk rating review and any adverse industry or economic changes. May work directly with borrower to obtain additional information.
  • Provide support to customers and Bank staff via telephone, mail, e-mail or in person. Respond to any inquiries in a prompt manner. Also correspond effectively with external agencies.
  • Complete annual reviews. Develop competence in completing annual reviews on credits, including a complete analysis of annual financial statements, collateral valuation, payment history, risk rating review and any adverse industry or economic changes.
  • Monitor loan policy exceptions. This includes loan approvals and loan to value exceptions.
  • Attend credit committee meetings and/or training.
  • Utilize bank pricing model to gage overall relationship profitability. Assist Lenders in identifying cross-selling opportunities.
  • Maintain various databases for tracking credit related data (i.e.: financial statements, annual reviews, covenant compliance, documentation exceptions, etc.). Prepare and/or analyze any related reports as directed. Assist other Bank staff with running and analyzing reports as requested. Reports may include: watch list loans, problem loans, past dues, etc.
  • Prepare for audits and examinations of loan files as necessary.
  • Demonstrate proficiency at a variety of specialized lending software such as Suntel, LaserPro, etc.
  • Prepare credit reports for loan officers or committees.
  • Maintain control over the credit requirements of current accounts.
  • Provide analytical assistance to loan officers as requested and assist in determining creditworthiness for potential and current customers.
  • Review all pertinent credit and financial information of borrowers.
  • Maintain and review credit files to assure all information is current and available upon request.
  • Understand and promote government guaranteed loan programs, including those in the Small Business Administration, Farm Service Agency, and United Stated Department of Agriculture. Work directly with Lenders, Borrowers, and employees of these agencies to gather, compile, and submit applications.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or relevant industry experience. Prefer prior experience in credit analyst capacity.
  • LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.: Valid motor vehicle driver’s license or provisional operator’s permit.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA'S):

  • Working knowledge of personal computer (Microsoft Office products).
  • Ability to use general office machines.
  • Must be attentive to detail and very accurate.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, management and other employees.
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills, problem solving abilities.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Must be flexible, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritize work flow.

  • Ability to hear well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers and outside bank personnel.
  • Ability to read and write.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Normal daily physical activities to include, walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling.
  • Must be able to read reports and use computer.
  • Daily lifting up to 20 pounds (i.e. office supplies, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoors, environmentally controlled. This position may require travel by car to visit other company locations and make on-site customer visits. May require work on evenings and weekends to meet with customers.


WORK HOURS: Primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
