What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at FirstLight Fiber, Inc?
General Duties:
The Core Operations Project Manager oversees all aspects of Core internal projects. These projects consist of the maintenance, upgrade, and growth of the Core Transport, IP & Voice network infrastructures, and as such, close collaboration between numerous functional groups will be required to ensure projects are completed within scope and on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transforms Internal Project requests into executable project plans with outlined milestones, activities, and tasks
- Organizes, prepares for, and leads project meetings, documenting and promptly distributing notes and action items
- Updates and maintains the Project Management and Service Order systems.
- Ensures appropriate documents are obtained and stored throughout the project lifecycle.
- Works closely with functional managers and project team members to prioritize activities and shared resource allocations across multiple projects.
- Reports project outcomes and/or risks to proper management and stakeholders, escalating as needed based on project plans
- Identifies process and system efficiencies, making recommendations and implementing quality control procedures
- Completes special projects and other duties as assigned to support company goals and initiatives
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Be able to manage multiple projects of varying complexities simultaneously
- Experienced with Project Management methodologies, specifically, but not limited to, Waterfall/Predictive, Agile and hybrid approaches
- Demonstrated ability to design project network diagrams, work schedules
- Strong PC skills with Microsoft tools such as: SharePoint, Outlook, OneNote, Visio, Excel and Project
- Must be self-directed, obtain and understand project requirements, and take the initiative to complete tasks or assignments with little or no direction
- Be able to build and foster collaborative relationships
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Working knowledge of projects that include Metro Ethernet/DWDM, fiber construction, Inside Plant, POP construction preferred
Education and/or Experience:
- Project Management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum; Certified PMP or CAPM preferred
- 5 Years of telecommunications project management
- BA/BS Degree or equivalent in telecom or related field preferred but not required
