Job Summary

Strategic oversight and operational leadership of the data and analytics services team for the South Region. The role includes relationship management and data support services to the south region including the financial services management teams, community solutions and clients of the region's portfolio of communities (1,600 ) by providing service leadership, team management and development of our data and analytics services department of approximately 3 associates. The role will focus on detailed data analytics and the day to day oversight of the data & analytics team. Responsibilities include recurring data mining, reporting, key metrics and ad-hoc analysis to produce forecasting and meaningful insight to business performance and drive critical decisions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the oversight of the data & analytics systems services department including talent selection, development, coaching and mentoring of a “World Class Team Delivering Service Excellence”.
  • Analyze and provide insights into data to provide leadership with critical business intelligence
  • Collaborating with departmental leaders in the creation of metrics to effectively drive business decisions and SLAs which ensure efficiency, productivity, accuracy and customer service targets are being met; ensures timely and effective communication occurs
  • Ensures timely issue identification, resolution and escalation when appropriate within leadership teams throughout the organization and operations management.
  • Establish strategic and pro-active partnerships with other departments, including property management teams including operational leaders and community managers, Community solutions, Transactional Services, Client Reporting, Internal Controls, Field Support/Client Relations and Corporate Accounting
  • Lead and develop a team of data & analytics individuals to ensure client services deliverables are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Guide managers and staff in ensuring tasks are completed accurately and timely
  • Maintain staffing coverage and related contingencies to ensure on-time delivery of services during periods of unexpected staff absences or transitions
  • Review department work product as appropriate
  • Assist other management team members in the recruiting, hiring, managing and separation of personnel
  • Provides strategic management and operational leadership to drive an organizational culture of continuous improvement and accountability; create and support initiatives to ensure continued development and reliability of systems in all transactional services activities.
  • Identify organizational needs both current and future; develop or adjust staff and related resources as necessary
  • Assess effectiveness of processes, probe as needed; plan and implement improvements
  • Collaborate with Projects & Systems team to lead initiatives to ensure continuous process improvement in all Data, Project and Systems Services activities
  • Make recommendations and develop standard reports for ongoing internal and external customer needs
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, guidelines and documentation in relation to the Data and Systems Services team.
  • Identify possible process improvements to streamline data collection and report creation
  • Continued collaboration by meeting with leaders on client technology projects providing data to support project success
  • Responsible for managing the team on tasks relating to data/reporting requests
  • Responsible for the collection, mining and analysis of large amounts of data to discover trends, patterns, correlations and developing business key metrics/dashboards and reports
  • Maintain integrity, cleanliness, consistency and organization of data from various sources as well as maintain ongoing and recurring processes for reporting and analytics
  • Prepare and maintain appropriately detailed documentation and technical specifications
  • Perform audits on data and reports, as well as their underlying processes, to find inconsistencies and discrepancies.
  • Assist in special projects that may include participating in the design, implementation, integration and data migration of various systems.
  • Provides technical and reporting mentorship to team members across all levels.
  • Responsible for monitoring industry standards, best practices, keeping current with industry trends, an in-depth understanding and evaluation of technology requirements of association's business functions and processes

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules.
  • Expected to participate in any variety of meetings, special projects and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.
  • Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management.
  • Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

Complete supervisory responsibilities for a team of 8 data, project and systems team members ranging from coordinator to Manager.

Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree in data analytics or related field, or equivalent experience in data analysis, data science, project management and application and systems support required. Five to seven years technical and/or analytical progressively responsible experience; management experience preferred. Accounting/finance experience a plus. Must have previous business intelligence experience or application or reporting development experience (SAS, SQL, ORACLE, Business Objects, MS SQL Server, Teradata, ACL). Executive presence complemented with strong written and verbal communication, presentation and technical writing skills required.

Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies

  • Experience using analytics / Business Intelligence packages (e.g. SAS, SQL, Oracle, Power BI, Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Spotfire, Tableau, QlikView) to build client analysis solutions.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills, utilizing tools such as Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI and other reporting and dashboarding software.
  • Advanced experience with relational databases and writing SQL queries to mine data.
  • Experience in dealing with large amounts of data (MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, etc.).
  • Experience with extracting data from databases including SQL and Oracle preferred.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and provide relevant information with great detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to write and maintain technical and non-technical instructions in the use of programs/reports and/or program/report/ modifications, in addition to presenting results as needed.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to see how details fit the larger picture.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access (Power Query and Power BI experience a plus).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently and be self-driven.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of leadership

Tools & Equipment Used

Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit and walk. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
