About the role

 

IBM AIX P series system administrator with SAN knowledge and good Perl/Ansible/Python/Shell scripting skills to build, support and maintain high compute, high availability, disaster recoverable environments. Someone who is dependable, responsible, take-charge, self-starter and an experienced team player. This position requires occasional visits to our Data Centre's at Voorhees, Philly and BDOC.

About the team

AIX Administration team supports all the infrastructure, backup services, data replications, data center migrations, network, MQ series, monitoring, automation and other applications.
 
What you will be doing

•  Install, maintain and upgrade IBM AIX P Series operating system software and common utilities/software packages.
• IBM VIO server management 3.1 , PowerVM and partition mobility
• IBM HMC Console 9/10 configuration and maintenance
• Provisions systems using standardized custom tools to perform Disaster Recovery exercises to another data center.
• Manages and maintain Brocade based SAN.
• IBM Storage Virtualization (SVC), SVC Data Replication, Tertiary replication (SVC).
• LPAR builds.
• Firmware upgrades of all IBM hardware
• Writing and maintaining existing automation scripts using programing shell, Perl, PHP, Python and Ansible.
• Disaster Recovery planning and performance.
• Fibrechannel SAN zoning and planning.
• Storage Virtualization, Data Replication, Tertiary replication.
• Managing and maintaining Dell Networker, Storix, NIM.
• Managing Dell Data Domain, DDBoost, replication.
• Occasional data center cabling designing and provisioning.
• Peform firmware upgrades, implement XYMON (Big Brother) for monitoring.
• Maintain and implement Oracle backup automation.
• Linux system administration.
• Support Autosys.
• Debug system and network issues.
• Manage Public Key / Private Key SSH ciphers and connections.
• Controls user access and passwords.
• Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve reliability and performance of system.
• Monitors system usage and performance.
• Train junior engineers on AIX system administration skills.
• Perform problem determination and remediation skills, troubleshoot server, software and hardware issues.
• Assists with recommending, scheduling, and implementing system hardware and/or software upgrades or repairs.
• Researches, evaluates, and recommends software and hardware products.
• Supports Web access and electronic messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment.
• Provides new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth.
• Participation in Annual budgeting / recommendations of HW and SW for following year procurement, obtains quotations from internal teams or Vendors in support of this activity.
• Manages and executes critical Disaster Recovery tasks for AIX environments and replicated storage during bi-annual Disaster Recovery Exercises or during a real disaster.
• Other duties as needed.

What you will need

• Knowledge of multiple operating systems and related utilities and hardware.
• Experience with storage management, TCP/IP, network monitoring and tools.
• A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or the equivalent experience.
 
Added bonus if you have

IBM AIX certifications a plus.
