Application Analyst (COBOL)

What makes a great Application Analyst?

Possesses in depth knowledge and experience with payment processing conversions for small/large businesses and financial institutions. The Analyst works directly with clients to transfer an existing card portfolio from another Fiserv Client into their infrastructure, and also reconverts client portfolios when they are moving the credit or debit accounts to another card processor or are cleaning up old data that resides on the Fiserv Omaha system. Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing for distributed environments.

You will be responsible for:

• Technical Data mapping analysis.
• Deliver and execute project landmarks for the full project life cycle from initiation through project closure.
• Crafting and detailing complex technical requirements for business applications
• Partnering with business analysts to identify business needs and appropriate technical solutions
• Creation of mapping specifications and/or programs (depending on analyst vs. programmer role)
• Ensuring quality of project implementation, including holding quality inspections
• Validating System and Output testing of transfer files, balancing portfolio financial and operational data
• Resolving complex issues and processes
• Planning data validation activities (mocks and other client events) in conjunction with client and Fiserv partners
• Building partnerships with clients, product owners, application development teams, and program management colleagues
• Consistency to internal processes and standard methodologies
• Monitoring and reporting progress
• Identification of risks and issues; managing and advancing appropriately

Basic qualifications and skills:

• Experience in COBOL, Mainframe applications, IBM JCL, and TSO/TPX
• Understanding of the Issuing Industry and associated products
• Ability to determine estimates of effort and impacts on a variety of solutions.
• Developed analytical and problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail including the ability to analyze and/or code data from different platforms in order to integrate the data into a Fiserv platform
• Experience in testing and validation of output, reports, and financial balancing
• Experience in stakeholder management

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Previous IT or Business Analysis experience.
• Experience in converting to new processing platforms.
• Experience with and knowledge of Fiserv production programs and processes.
• Financial services background with particular emphasis in payment processing industry.
• 4 Year College Degree in IT, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics, preferred.
