Web Press Helper
Essential Job Functions
A. Working Hours: 12 Hour shifts working 3-4 days/nights a week with occasional overtime.
B. Equipment Operated: Mark XVI, Mark VI, Harris Presses.
C. Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Hang paper rolls and operate paper splicer.
- Assist Lead Pressmen with the set-up and make-ready of the machine. Including but not limited to Ink color changes, plating and webbing press.
- Maintain print quality, proof checks, running rolls, ink levels while machines are in operation. Stacking product if job requires it.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and housekeeping of working area.
- Responsibilities of this position requires full attention while on the job to ensure the safety of you, others and the machinery.
D. Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Previous press experience helpful, but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude or previous mechanical experience helpful.
E. Physical and Frequency Requirements:
- Requires performing tasks standing (5%), walking (80%), bending (15%).
- Work positions include squatting (20%), with extended reach above head (20%) and in front of body (60%), above 18 inches and in front 30 inches.
- Lifts materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Requires handling materials weighing 1200-3000 pounds (rolls) while pushing, pulling, lifting and twisting. Requires push/pull force of 70 lbs.
- Works in air-conditioned environment with high noise levels.
F. Safety and Company Policies:
- Adhere to and follow the safety policies and procedures of the Fisher Group.
- Do not smoke except in designated areas.
- Due to noise level, hearing protection is required. Earbuds are not allowed due to the need to communicate safely with team members.
- Be familiar with the location and contents of the First Aid Kit in your department.
- Understand and be informed of the information contained in the Safety Data Sheet (SDSs) for chemicals that are located in your department.
- Understand OSHA Lockout-Tagout procedure.
- Report unsafe conditions or practices to your team leader or anyone on the Safety Committee.
G. Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
- Requires proven English communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. Ability to distinguish colors. Ability to facilitate communication between production personnel while work in process. Initiate and maintain good organization of records and information.
H. Behavior Requirements:
- Reporting for work as scheduled and being at the proper workstation at the assigned time.
- Notifying your supervisor and team leader in advance when you will be absent from work or unable to report for work on time.
- Complying with the Fisher Group safety regulations and policies outlined in the employee handbook.
