As a strong team player and skilled purchasing professional, you will make it your mission to support Construction & Field Services operations and streamline our purchasing process.
Objectives of this Role
The Buyer/Procurement Planner’s primary duties include collaborating across departments to optimize operational efficiency, creating analysis to optimize spend & cycle time, and directing the day to day functions of the Procurement Process for the company. This role requires an understanding of Construction, procurement & negotiation methodology, and vendor management. This position will report to Chief Financial Officer.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
· Document & streamline Purchasing Processes
· High level responsibility (account management & contracts) of key trade categories
· Build & maintain effective relationships with our trade partners
· Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintain appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performance
· Play a key role in strategic sourcing initiatives; identifying new sourcing opportunities. Finding new ways to partner with subcontractors and make the overall supply chain more efficient
· Ensure audit & contractual compliance for supply chain functions
· Actively communicate with leadership regarding updates, projections, and potential issues
· Develop and foster a strong working relationship with field personnel and vendors/suppliers
· Provide on demand, real time support to field personnel
· Deadline driven mindset and the ability to self manage to reach defined goals
· Ensure proper recording of purchases in our accounting software, Netsuite
· Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
· Language – English, in addition Spanish IS A PLUS.
· Degree in business/accounting and/or related field experience will supplement degree
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Work experience in Construction, Accounting/Finance, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
· 1-5 years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships, basics of Cost Accounting, and tracking budget expenses.
· Work history in materials management and/or outsourcing.
· Knowledge of MRP processes.
· Work experience in the construction environment is beneficial.
· Ability to respond consistently with a high degree of initiative to resolve issues or complex problems that may arise.
· Ability to maintain a positive company image and brand.
· Well-developed written and verbal communication, listening, and presentation skills.
· Efficient organization and time-management skills.
· A courteous and professional demeanor
· Strong communication and negotiation skills
· Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Proficient with Excel and developing spreadsheets to manage various parts trackers, projects, etc., and other work-related software
· NetSuite knowledge is a PLUS
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
