Job Description

As the head of the Fivetran Design Operations team, you will be a key creator of how design gets done at Fivetran. You’ll report to our Head of Design and build a team of 6, who will collaborate across all functions of our 17 person Design org: Product Design, User Experience Research, Brand Design, Video, and Design Systems. You will partner closely with our leadership team to create world-class experiences for our teams to deliver quality at scale, through creating focus, reducing friction, establishing stability, and transforming career and personal growth.

Responsibilities:

• Attract, retain, develop, and manage Operations leaders and individual contributors with compassion.
• Establish trust and build confidence with cross-functional partners and executive leadership (e.g., Design, Product, Engineering, and Marketing).
• Enable the Design teams to scale and create great brand and product experiences, built on impactful user research, in a creative and supportive environment.
• Prioritize work to maximize impact on the business and the user experience.
• Act as a mentor, leader, and coach across the Design Operations team.
• Identify and implement improvements for Design onboarding, training, and community programs.
• Define and track Design KPIs
• Establish the Design analytics function to provide org and department insights

This role can sit within our offices in Oakland, Denver, or remotely within most of the United States.

Basic Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience of practice and management of a Design Operations function.
• Strong understanding of different teams and programs that make up Design Operations
• Experience as a people manager.
• Experience directing and guiding a team through a complete lifecycle of several launched programs/projects.
• Understanding of Design and the different crafts that are part of the design family.
• Familiarity with Design Systems governance and contribution models
• Customer-service driven with a positive, friendly, can-do attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building Design Operations to scale in fast-paced environments.
• Experience and involvement in product development processes between cross-functional partners (e.g. product design, product management, and engineering).
• Proven track record of program management leadership and operational support throughout a Brand Studio and Marketing organization
• Exceptional ability to influence across the organization.
• Exceptional ability to deliver Design Operations solutions that grow the business and create new value for the team, and our members/customers.
• Mastery in solving unstructured problems that have many dependencies and may have lengthy timelines
• Seeks out ambiguity and transforms it into effective, actionable plans with cross-functional partners.
