Must Have Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid NYS Drivers’ License
- 3 years experience counseling or case management in employment / training
- Experience in a behavioral health care setting
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Demonstrates composure in challenging situations
Nice to Have Qualifications :
- Associates Degree or higher in Education, Vocational Counseling, Health / Human Services
- 5 years experience working counseling / case management
- Experience in Crisis Management
Duties
- Determine the customer's suitability for participation in WIOA, Trade, and National Dislocated Worker Grants, and specialty funded services.
- Provide initial skills assessment, including literacy, numeracy, and language proficiencies to assess and identify supportive service needs.
- Provide referrals, coordination, and assistance in applying for other eligible programs and/or services, including but not limited to, childcare, child support, healthcare, SNAP, public assistance, unemployment, etc.
- Verify all documentation and records to ensure appropriate and thorough documentation and record keeping for monitoring and compliance with the Department of Labor regulation and agency policies and procedures.
- Develop career plans identifying specific goals and outcomes to prepare individuals for employment and/or training opportunities.
- Maintain and document all services and case notes in the 10e11 electronic record for monitoring review and compliance.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with recruiters and employers to match qualified individuals to open positions.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with education and vocational agencies.
- Conduct regular employer outreach to identify and determine recruitment and hiring needs.
- Provide information, assistance, support, and guidance to individuals on job search methods, interview process, and barriers to employment.
- Provide assistance, support, and guidance through on the job training
- Other duties and functions as directed.
- Participate in the NYESS process when applicable.
