The Operations Manager oversees Pharmacy Department operations and staff to ensure efficient operational flow and provision of care to patients. This position is responsible for analysis and reporting on clinical operations, managing all aspects of Pyxis systems, and providing training to pharmacy and nursing staff.
- Coordinates the orientation and ongoing operational and educational activities of the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists.
Supervises Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in the performance of daily activities. Prepares and coordinates work schedule. Provides training and orientation for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists. - Serves as System Manager for Pyxis automated dispensing system, Talyst and for Health Systems, including training and oversight of technicians and Pharmacists as Super users. Introduces new technology procedures to Pharmacists and Technicians and oversees implementation.
- Oversees daily reports and monitoring activities and quality improvement activities which include but are not limited to managing inventories, data bases, discrepancy reviews and cqi interdepartmental activities.
- Investigates and takes appropriate action regarding complaints with patient care or other services.
- Participates in medication use evaluations to improve patient outcomes.
- Participates in routine back-ups or downtime procedures of the computer programs, drug information programs and databases.
- Defines problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, interpret technical instructions, and deal with abstract variables.
- Serves as Acting Leader of Pharmacy in the Administrator's absence, as assigned.
Degree/Diploma
- Graduate Accredited School of Pharmacy
- Pharm D, MS preferred
Experience
- 2-years Hospital Pharmacy experience
- Hospital pharmacy management experience preferred
Certificates/Licenses/Registration
- Licensed Pharmacist in Florida
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Additional Information:
BLS, provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS, provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 90 days of hire.
