Position Summary
Responsible to perform assigned duties in the day-to-day operation of the business and maintaining facility appearance of the store to deliver an optimum customer experience.
The deli associate will greet and serve guests, prepare food, maintain food safety and sanitation standards, and handle or process light paperwork.
Job Duties:
- Exhibits a cheerful and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders
- Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains them to guests accurately.
- Uses Point of Sale system/cash register to record the order and compute the amount of the bill. Collects payment from guests and makes change.
- Performs Cash-In Procedure- accounting for all forms of money, food, etc., during the shift.
- Prepares food neatly, according to formula, and in a timely manner
- Checks products in sandwich unit area and restocks items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift.
- Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation, service and clean up.
- Cleans and maintains all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image.
- Follow all safety and security programs and processes, to include reporting of incidents/accidents
- Assist with vendor deliveries, maintaining clear, orderly, and safe walk-ways and storage rooms
- Performs light paperwork duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Diploma or GED achieved or in pursuit of is preferred
- Prior retail experience helpful
- Able to speak, read, write the English language
- Professional, pleasant, and respectful demeanor
- Strong sense of urgency to serve customers and maintain facility standards

The job is usually performed indoors in a convenience store setting. There are regular outside property oversight duties, with exposure to outside elements. Activities include extended periods of standing and walking, as well as bending, stooping, squatting, sitting, climbing, and reaching. Ability to communicate orally with candidates, employees, management, and customers. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations and interactions with customers, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.

Requires good manual dexterity for the use of equipment common to convenience stores (e.g., computers, mobile devices, POS, drink machines, food storage and delivery equipment, gas pumps, break-aways, etc.). Regular exertion of up to 30 lbs. of force for stocking, putting up deliveries, and may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Due to common convenience store and gas station equipment, may be exposed to moving equipment parts, electrical sources, hot and cold temperatures and substances, and moderate to strong odors.
