Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a/an Manufacturing Controls Engineer located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Medical Device, the Manufacturing Controls Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes by providing technical support maintenance of manufacturing methods by performing the following duties in the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle.
What a typical day looks like:
- Implement new solutions and resolve existing issues in Manufacturing Process Controls related to Machine Controls, MES, Middleware, and ERP functionality.
- Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies and techniques
- Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
- Define equipment maintenance requirements, identify root-causes of equipment failures and develop hands-on maintenance skills. Work with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products and may develop corrective and preventive action plans
- May be involved in development and update of PFMEA for new products
- May participate in control plan development
- Write and update work instructions and other documents (e.g. specifications, procedures,…).
- Provides information for management decisions from a technical and technical cost perspective.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Minimum of 8 year experience in similar position
- Bachelor degree in related field.
- Working knowledge of industrial communication buses: Profibus, Fieldbus, Modbus, Asi, HART, Device net, serial 232, 422,485, industrial ethernet, ethercat and associated software suites employing them
- Working knowledge of industrial networks supporting: SCADA systems, RTU, PLCs, OPCUA, DCS
- GAMP5 GxP compliant computerized control systems
- Experienced in high speed automated manufacturing and packaging equipment, robotics
- Experienced in safety as related to control systems ISO13849-1
- Medical Device Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards as related to full life cycle of process equipment, (installation : qualification : continuous improvement : decommissioning)
- Good communication skills enabling delivery of specialist technological knowledge and experience to the Product Stream
- Knowledge and expertise in front and back end automated PCBA technology a plus
