Flextek Resources has partnered with a Leading Environmental Company located about 50 miles North of Miami, FL that has an immediate need for a Director of Scientific Affairs.

This is a newly construction role due to expanding the business!! This is an opportunity to work with a company and build something from the ground up.


As the Director of Scientific Affairs, you would help build the new caron platform of the business being one of the first employees. Responsible for providing the company with strategic regulatory guidance and ensuring that projects that are being built or invested in have the ability to generate the carbon credits that are expected.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Providing scientific guidance on the carbon or GHG projects that are existing or that the company is looking to invest in.
  • Analysis of carbon credit project plans including studies and PDD’s
  • Determine the scientific risks of generating credits from these projects as well as the overall ecological value of the project.
  • Develop our own carbon project plans, selecting the optimal methods of carbon sequestration or abatement, facilitating the credit registration processes (including feasibility studies and PDDs).
  • Forecast credits available based on the applicable carbon registry or compliance protocols, and then executing on the process of registering and verifying future credit issuance.
  • Grow the scientific affairs team to ensure we possess regulatory expertise in a variety of different areas (e.g., forestry, wetlands, composting, grasslands, seagrass, methane capture and destruction, direct air capture, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions including carbon dioxide
  • Familiarity with the evolving carbon and GHG science, with a focus on nature-based solutions (forestry, wetlands, seagrass, etc.) but some familiarity with other industrial based solutions such as direct air capture
  • Knowledge and working experience with the carbon credit registries
  • Understanding of carbon credit registration including project design documents (PDDs)
