Job Description Production Engineer – Crystal Growth Systems and Infrastructure FLIR Systems Bozeman operation manufactures synthetic single-crystal laser materials and produces crystalline optics for use in the laser-optics industry. The crystal growth department has an opening for a production engineer supporting the specialized Czochralski crystal growth systems and related infrastructure. The high temperature Czochralski crystal growth process integrates a variety of precision systems and processes including: Induction heated high temperature growth furnaces powered by 50kW RF generators Geothermal temperature-controlled process cooling water Precision gas generation and delivery systems Precision load-cell based weight measurement systems Precision linear translation stages LabVIEW based growth process control software >1MW diesel and battery backed up uninterrupted power supply systems Various monitoring and control systems Responsibilities include: oversee reliability of crystal growth production equipment, machinery and infrastructure, conduct preventive maintenance, and repair inconsistencies to prevent production delays. design build and implementation of next generation custom production equipment and infrastructure for improved value, performance and reliably. oversee installation of new equipment and systems to meet current electrical & building code additional duties may include hands on crystal growth production support and weekend shift rotation (approx. one weekend per month) for monitoring of production crystal growth processes. Experience, Education and Competencies Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar. Strong analysis and experimental skills with the ability to understand and resolve technical problems Experience with facility engineering & control systems a plus LabView software programming a plus Solid words drafting experience a plus Proven electrical and mechanical aptitude Demonstrated ability to learn on the job Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand / walk for long periods Strong teamwork with a hands-on, get it done, willing to do anything for the team attitude a must.
