What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Accounts Payable - Trade position at Floor & Decor?
Purpose:
This individual in this position is responsible for supervising all aspects of the company’s trade accounts payable process. This includes but not limited to, processing and payment of trade invoices, reconciliation and reporting of key metrics, as well as overseeing the company’s supply chain finance program.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and 3-5 years (including 2 years of supervisory experience) in accounts payable, accounting or treasury finance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
- Ability to maintain accuracy in a very detailed work environment
- Proficient with PC accounting software, Internet-based programs, MS Office Suite
- Prior experience with Alteryx, Oracle, SAP, JDA or Coupa systems a plus
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
- Detail-oriented self-starter with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively across all business functions
Essential Job Functions:
- Read, analyze, and interpret procedures and policies/regulations
- Present information and respond to questions from associates, vendors, and customers
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
- Interpret a variety of instructions
- Calculate figures and amounts and apply principles of accounting
- Supervises a small team of professionals in a department characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes
- Thorough knowledge of the functional area under supervision
- Own ultimate responsibility for timely vendor payments
- Develop an effective meeting and reporting rhythm within the team, holding both individual and group touchpoints
- Serve as the ultimate point of escalation for all past due to AP, invoice processing/matching, duplicate payment, and vendor dispute issues
- Build relationships and develop report-out cadence with management to drive effective dispute resolution and optimize vendor and customer relationships
- Assist in the development and revision of AP Department policies and procedures, aiming to mitigate risk and increase efficiency
- Perform analytical review and reporting within Accounts Payable
- Other responsibilities and duties as defined from time to time by the Accounts Payable Manager
WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL & ENVIRONMENT):
- Limited travel required including air and car
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
