Florida Palm Plumbing is a locally owned and operated Plumbing Company in the heart of South Florida. Florida Palm Plumbing is seeking a Helper Plumber to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Plumber’s Helper will be performing all hands-on work of a plumbing job, including re-piping, plumbing repairs, and new plumbing work. The work will be done throughout South Florida, and will be done under the supervision of a licensed plumber. The Experienced Helper would be responsible for performing the physical “hands-on” plumbing work, preforming work on schedule and within budget per the job scope and plans. The Experienced Helper will have an Experienced Plumber/Working Foreman they work under on all job sites. The Experienced Helper will also be responsible for quality job performance, and effective communication with plumbing team.
To be a successful Experienced Helper, you will need to be able to work on deadlines, and have good written and communication skills.
The Plumber’s Helper responsibilities include:
· Assisting in maintaining and repairing general plumbing components to include toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, and drains.
· Assist in install, repair, or replace domestic hot and cold-water lines.
· Assist in repair and replace steam to hot water exchangers for major building heating systems and pools.
· Assist in repair and replace pneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipes.
· Assist in repair and replace domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumps.
· Assist in install, test, and repair all sizes of backflow prevention devices.
· Learn/Assist in leading troubleshooting efforts and repairs steam, water, and gas distribution systems.
· Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
· Assisting in loading and unloading materials and equipment
· Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes
· Pickup materials or any necessary runs for the job assigned by the Experienced Plumber/Foreman
· Must be able to travel to the job sites as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
· High School/Trade School degree preferred; at least 3 years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
· Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair skills.
· Knowledge of steam, water, and natural gas distribution systems maintenance and repair.
· Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
· Ability to follow direction and aid in troubleshooting for emergency repairs.
· Ability to read, understand, and follows safety procedures.
· Ability to meet work and learn how to pass city/county inspections.
· Ability to follow plans and isometric drawings.
· Ability to create material lists for projects.

Conditions of Employment
· Possession of a valid Florida driver's license is a requirement for this job.
· Reliable Transportation to assigned jobsite.
· Must pass a federal background check/pre-employment criminal background and drug/alcohol check.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
· Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
· Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
· Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
Employee will serve full-time (40 hours). This position will be paid an hourly rate between $15-20; depending on experience and recommendations. This position will also be eligible for full health benefits, 401(k) retirement fund, company holidays and paid time off.
