TOURISM MARKETING SPECIALIST
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under general supervision, performs experienced para- professional work planning, organizing, and coordinating marketing projects for the Tourism Development Office.

Maintains files and databases for master service agreements and insertion orders.
Communicates with vendors in order to ensure Certificates of Insurance (COIs), E-Verify, and other required documentation are obtained and maintains complete files for each vendor.
Responsible for preparing documents related to marketing contracts, informal quotes, and bid packets.
Prepares itineraries and helps coordinate familiarization tours (FAMs) for media and travel agents.
Coordinates Vacation Planner Requests with authorized mail service provider.
Assists with digital asset management in Dropbox and other user-generated content platforms.
Assists with the creation of electronic marketing content.
Responsible for maintaining the Sales Action Team and other department databases.
Manages the paid media process, ensuring delivery of advertising assets in accordance with contracted terms and reconciles proof of placement and post-campaign reporting.
Conducts outreach to local tourism-related businesses, verifies business information, and educates them on resources available from the Tourism Development Office.
Serves as liaison to other agencies and stakeholders or marketing-related projects.
Responds to telephone and written inquiries and general questions received by the Tourism Development
Office Marketing team.
Serves as the recording secretary at Marketing Committee and Sales Action Team meetings, including assembling and distributing agendas, taking and transcribing official minutes, and preparing and distributing the minutes in final form.
Maintains records of and reconciles travel receipts, mileage, conference attendance, and other fiscal reports for the Marketing team.
Provides administrative support to the Marketing team as necessary.
Prepares status reports for management on a periodic basis or when requested.
Performs related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Note: The knowledge, skills, and abilities identified in this class specification represent those needed to perform the duties of this class. Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities may be applicable for individual positions.)
Good knowledge of traditional and digital marketing tools.
Good knowledge of recordkeeping practices and procedures.
Good knowledge of the principles of management, organization, and administration.
Good knowledge in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other similar software.
Some knowledge of project management systems.
Some knowledge of the functions and operations of the Tourism Development Office.
Ability to coordinate projects.
Ability to prepare comprehensive written and electronic reports.
Ability to analyze problems and data and recommend solutions.
Ability to multi-task and organize and prioritize assigned work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is mainly sedentary work.
