SUMMARY
The Program Director is the primary administrator, manager, and supervisor for the Boys Ranch program. The Program Director is responsible for program development, personnel, facilities, contracts, fees for service, and program related matters for the assigned program/service. The Program Director is a member of the Youth Ranches joint management team and represents the Boys Ranch at team meetings. The Program Director is directly responsible to the Director of Residential Services. This position is exempt from overtime pay.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Provides administration, supervision and coordination for assigned program/services and activities on and off campus. Ensures that all required reports and statistics are submitted on a timely and accurate basis.
- Coordinates recruitment, selection, employment and release of assigned personnel as well as their orientation, training, regularly scheduled supervisory conferences, and annual performance evaluations.
- Ensures that all licensing, accreditation, and other standards for assigned programs and services are met. Works closely with Main Office Program Support Team to ensure that Quality Assurance, Compliance Review and Case Utilization occur as scheduled and that appropriate corrective action and training is set in place to correct any problems or concerns.
- Supervises the total process of maintaining a full census, youth admissions and the release of all youth in the assigned program/service. Works closely with Intake Coordinator during the referral process, request for service aftercare services, intake, admission, and release of all youth and families in the assigned program/service.
- Coordinates activities and functions specific to the assigned program and between the assigned program and other programs in the Youth Ranches, schools, and other institutions.
- Ensures that all rules and regulations relating to Medicaid or other fees for service are closely followed and that sound practice methods are followed in the provision of services; in close cooperation with Director of Residential Services and the Director of Clinical Services, negotiates and ensures compliance with all contracts.
- Relates to visitors and guests in such a manner as to ensure that they feel welcome and comfortable and leave with a good impression of the Youth Ranches.
- Enthusiastically supports and works with Financial Donor Relations staff of the agency to ensure that donors, sheriffs and other stakeholders are cared for and serviced in a timely and high quality fashion.
- Represents assigned program/service on statewide Youth Ranches workgroups, task forces or other meetings.
- Ensures the Youth Ranches Strategic Plan is consistently discussed with all staff and all staff are invited and encouraged to participate with creating, developing, and implementing new initiatives.
- Manages budget, expenditures, and revenue generating activities within the area to ensure that resources are maximized and that all programs are fiscally accountable; prepares recommendations and presents proposed annual budget to the Director of Residential Services.
- Closely monitors the farm operation to ensure there is a good balance of youth education/recreation and business development.
- Ensures that facilities, equipment, vehicles and other assets are maintained in attractive and/or functional manner.
- Participates as a member of the scholarship committee and oversees the work of mentors assigned to your staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Although a degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred, an advanced degree in Education, Public Administration or other field with a strong administrative emphasis is acceptable if experience and other qualifications are sufficient. A minimum of five years of experience in a social service setting with at least three years in an administrative or supervisory capacity is required. Supervisory experience in administering multi-service, multi-site agencies with a residential component will be given preference.
