Summary:
The CIMTEC Engineering team provides CIMTEC Automation, and its customers, world class engineering support focused on the robotics, vision, safety, and controls technologies. Functions include assisting the CIMTEC Sales team and customers to design and propose the best solution within the CIMTEC Product Lines by contributing value added engineering services, inside sales support, and technical knowledge growth. By demonstrating a balance of technical aptitude and being responsive to customer’s needs, Application Engineers are important players in CIMTEC’s mission to expand our market share.
Major Duties or Responsibilities:
- Maintain and continually develop technical knowledge of suppliers’ products – Key Suppliers are Cognex, Universal Robots, LMI, Epson, Emerson, and MiR, with others to be added over time. General understanding of all vendors is required with high level of technical proficiency expected on a select group, which will be mutually agreed upon.
- Assist suppliers and salespeople in learning the products and how to position them to each market
- Demonstrate the technical expertise necessary to specify automation products to fulfill customer application requirements and budgets
- Provide presentations to customers and internal staff on CIMTEC solutions
- Coordinate and lead equipment demonstrations in CIMTEC labs, online, at customer sites, and at trade shows
- Participate in joint sales calls or site visits with the Outside Sales staff for the purpose of lending technical support to the sales efforts
- Deliver training for the automation components sold by CIMTEC for both internal and external audiences
- Respond to engineering support inquiries, requests, and concerns
Minor Duties or Responsibilities:
- Ensure all administrative documents are accurate and current, including project files, timesheets, and corporate expenditures
- Help develop new AEs with mentorship and on-the-job training
- Provide account intelligence to Sales when communicating with or visiting customers
- Travel overnight to customer sites or sales event locations, including occasional stays for 3-4 nights (most work is local or regional but could be nationwide)
Education Qualifications:
- BS degree or 4 years of related experience
Technical Qualifications:
- Understanding of automation technologies sold by CIMTEC including Robotics (Epson, Universal Robots, MiR, Kawasaki), Machine Vision Systems (Cognex, LMI, SICK), and Controls (Emerson, Horner, Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Understanding of basic electrical design principles using software applications such as AutoCAD
- Understanding of basic mechanical design principles using software application such as Fusion 360
Experience Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience focused on automation
- Experience with Industrial Automation Hardware and Software
