Job Summary: In this role you will perform documented inspections in the verification of conformance of parts to applicable drawings, procedures, specifications and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. The QC Inspector is responsible for the content of the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and project quality plan according to customer’s and Flowserve’s specifications and international standards. Besides, the QC Inspector is responsible for defining, advising and controlling all project required QC documents. The QC Inspector reports directly to the QC Supervisor/Manager.
This is a 2nd shift position. The work hours are from 3:15 pm to 11:45 pm. The location is Bridgeville, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Documenting dimensional and visual inspections to the drawing or applicable procedures
- Documenting non-conforming material utilizing an NCR (nonconforming materials) process
- Reviewing and verify internal and external qualifications of suppliers, welders, NDE personnel with regard to Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE), welding procedures and/or other applicable requirements.
- Reviewing and approve supplier’s manufacturing and testing documents/procedures and to take care for approval (when required) of these documents by the customer, his customer and the authorized inspection body Preparing and define test and inspection requirements for the required projects such as ITP and procurement specifications
- And any other duties assigned
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years machine shop, quality control, or related experience (i.e. trade school, apprentice school training, etc.)
- Capable of calculating basic mathematical functions including computation of rate, ratio and percent.
- Capable of reading and interpreting mechanical machining and assembly drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret parts lists and material specifications.
- Ability to review, analyze and suggest disposition for non-conforming material.
- Rotating equipment product/process knowledge desired.
- High attention to Detail and good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with and good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems and ISO standards a plus.
- High level of written, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds using proper lifting equipment and perform duties while standing for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work any shift if required. •Other duties as directed by the Quality Supervisor or Operations/Plant Manager.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Knowledge of welding, NDE and quality systems
- Knowledge of the established quality standards, laws and regulations of national and international authorities
- Must have knowledge of inspection equipment generally found in machining, assembly and test operations
- Effective utilization of CMMs is a plus
- Flexibility and willingness to travel
- Good interpersonal, communication, negotiation, analytical and presentation skills
- Problem solving skills
