Responsibilities:

Initially, your assignments are structured for you to learn. You will gradually begin assessing risks at larger commercial properties. You will visit client facilities and perform evaluations that will help our clients reduce risks in their business and at their properties.

 

You will perform “hands-on” site assessments of physical properties including roofs and conduct evaluations which include, but are not limited to, site water supplies, dust hazards, chemical storage, and rack storage arrangements of client products.

 

Consultant Engineers are encouraged to follow FM Global Engineering Standards and communicate recommendations and/or engineering solutions to ensure client understanding. Strong communication, listening and relationship building skills are a must.

 

You should be willing to operate from a home office and will travel to clients' facilities daily; overnight travel is expected approximately 20% of the time. You must also be willing to travel to Natural Catastrophe sites as needed.

Qualifications:

Based on a candidate’s previous experience, this role can be for either a Consultant Engineer I or Consultant Engineer II. Successful Consultant Engineer candidates have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or fire protection 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Good analytical, organizational, problem solving skills
  • Efficient time management ability with work independently
  • Proven technical capability including diverse knowledge of engineering principles
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to climb commercial ladders (ex. inspect roofs), lift >25 lbs., and some clients require working in confined spaces. 
  • Proficient in MS Office products

You will be expected to work independently and should be willing to operate from your home office and travel to client sites on a regular basis.

 

The hiring range for this position is $68,300 to $109,500. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible to participate in FM Global’s comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes an incentive plan, generous health and well-being programs, a 401(k) and pension plan, career development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, time off allowances and much more.
