The Atlanta Operation (Alpharetta, GA office) has an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Engineer. Depending on the level of the candidate's skill and experience this position may be eligible for all levels of field engineering (CE 1 to SES). Varying levels of experience and qualifications will be considered. 

 

This is a position for a home-based resident Consultant Engineer serving the Jacksonville, Florida area.

Responsibilities:



As a Resident Consultant Engineer, you will develop strong working relationships with our clients and help them identify, quantify, and reduce risks to their business. You will advise on property protection and develop solutions supported by our extensive research base and unique scientific expertise. In addition, you will act to support project activity for our client base as they develop their business opportunities and facilities in Florida. 

 

A Consultant Engineer at FM Global is expected to manage field, office, and project work for clients within a wide range of industries (including manufacturing, warehousing, and retailing). Small to medium sized locations will be expected to be handled with minimal supervision.  Larger locations and more challenging occupancies will be assigned based upon skill level. These products and services are expected to be delivered in a timely and efficient manner. The individual will also be expected to achieve risk improvement by ensuring client understanding, consulting to reach client agreements, and executing follow-ups until completion.

 

Travel is expected at a rate commensurate with a resident position. (approx. 30-40 nights away each year for a Florida Resident engineer).





Qualifications:

    • Passion for climate resiliency
    • Innovative Spirit with the desire to think beyond the current state of the field engineering role and test new technologies to support loss prevention efforts
    • Strong organizational, communication, listening and interpersonal skills are a must.
    • Effective negotiation and “sales” skills.
    • Solid technical aptitude including a diverse knowledge of engineering principals.
    • Strong analytical thinker with logical application.
    • Decisive problem solver.
    • Efficient time management ability with minimal supervision.
    • Effective in working with other team members to support clients and achieve objectivesBachelor’s Degree in engineering or Applied Science or equivalent is required.

      Minimum 1 year FM Global experience and completion of Consultant Engineering Program or equivalent. 

       

      Experience in completing evaluations in wind and coastal flood zones is preferred, but not required. Candidates with a passion for climate resiliency will enjoy this role and flourish. F/NH Pulp and Paper and/or Power Generation experience is preferred, but not a requirement. 

       

      Skills/Knowledge 

    Physical Requirements:
    • Able to lift up to 25 pounds or 11.34 kilograms
    • Able to climb ladders

    The hiring range for this position is $88,000 to $105,000. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible to participate in FM Global’s comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes an incentive plan, generous health and well-being programs, a 401(k) and pension plan, career development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, time off allowances and much more.
