BUYER DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for identifying suppliers, researching goods and services, processing purchase orders, and verifying delivered items. Critically assess suppliers, products, and services, and negotiate the best possible deals.
BUYER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services.
- Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
- Requesting quotes and negotiating prices.
- Preparing and processing purchase orders.
- Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
- Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
- Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations.
- Ability to follow Company Purchasing Policy’s
- Work to solve any discrepancies with Vendor's & Accounting
- Maintains meticulous transaction records.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
BUYER EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position
- Proficiency using ERP inventory management software programs (Epicor preferred)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Experience purchasing raw metals
- Experience in Manufacturing environment
- Experience working with material conversions
- Keen sense of business
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
