Business/Function Overview:
The North American EHS Regional Manager will support FMC’s North America manufacturing sites goals of meeting environmental, health & safety and other EHS operational requirements. This individual will provide leadership, strategic guidance, technical expertise and support on safety matters to the region. The candidate will maintain effective communications with business leaders to ensure the region effectively meets the business needs. Most importantly, this role will guide continuous improvement of EHS in the North America region and maintain FMC's core values around safety, health, environment and ethics.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a coordinated regional team to align & harmonize FMC’s safety culture across North America
- Provide direct oversight to the North America EHS manufacturing and non-manufacturing teams and work with site leaders to develop site EHS personnel
- Lead site risk assessments and oversee the implementation of mitigation measures
- Monitor & track the corporate EHS and site internal EHS audit process, ensuring that all audits are completed and properly documented
- Conduct site audits to ensure compliance with FMC/OSHA rules & regulations and ensure all FMC NA sites are also compliant with EHS standards & procedures
- Analyze EHS data trends and advise leadership on the appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring accidents
- Coordinate the process safety management protocols for the region, ensuring appropriate reviews are conducted, documented and communicated
- Effectively lead incident investigations, ensure proper classification and drive the implementation of corrective actions
- Develop and implement work processes to address evolving safety programs focused on prevention of injuries
- Resolve complex compliance matters using the required data, metrics, resources and management systems
- Oversee the sites Responsible Care Management System; support internal audits and develop compliance plans
- Create a Monthly Safety Report that communicates safety performance metrics and safety program messaging
- Assist sites with reports and permits for compliance
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering or the physical sciences; advanced degree desirable.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated strategic organizational and planning skills. Environmental experience documenting and executing against short- and long-term plans to achieve objectives
- Familiar with manufacturing production processes and driving safety within the plant environment
- Knowledge of US safety and occupational health regulations (OSHA, EPA, regulations)
- Experience in safety incident classification, investigation methodologies, and root cause analyses desirable
- Working experience with risk analysis and data-based decision-making
- Knowledgeable of occupational safety programs, including behavioral based safety management, incident reporting, job task surveys, ergonomics; and, able to recognize health and industrial hygiene issues
- Familiar with process safety management systems, including MOC and other elements of the OSHA PSM standard. Working familiarity with the technical aspects of process safety — P&lDs, interlocks (SIS), emergency relief systems, suppression systems, etc.
