We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Materials Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily management of inventory, procurement, and logistics for production, shipping, and warehouse operations. This role ensures timely ordering, receipt, and availability of materials and supplies to support uninterrupted plant operations. The Materials Manager also collaborates with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain efficiency in material flow and order fulfillment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily inventory of supplies for Production and Shipping, using a checklist to ensure all items are accounted for.
- Generate material lists and coordinate with the Warehouse Team to transfer necessary items to the plant.
- Manage supply inventories for Shipping, Warehouse, and Production, and track purchase parts needing new purchase orders (POs).
- Request lead times and pricing from approved suppliers and generate POs in IQMS for approval and processing.
- Oversee vendor interactions, ensuring timely delivery of materials based on plant needs; adjust orders as needed to maintain coverage.
- Issue POs for transportation charges and verify invoices, ensuring documentation and requirements are met (e.g., packing lists, PODs).
- Attend production and launch meetings, assisting with planning and material procurement for new launches.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to coordinate materials for trials and new parts, including shipping trial materials to tooling shops.
- Support the Accounting team with research on unpaid invoices, ensuring POs are processed and materials are received correctly.
- Conduct weekly label inventory and manage label procurement to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Monitor and submit POs for corrugated packaging needs, ensuring non-stop flow of packaging materials.
- Proactively manage supply levels and maintain consistent communication to prevent material shortages or downtime.
- Assist with cycle counts for inventory control in both production and warehouse facilities.
- Support the Procurement Manager with colorant supply management and transportation/logistics setups.
- Maintain open communication across departments to address any supply concerns, facilitating problem-solving and timely deliveries.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with IQMS or other ERP systems for inventory and procurement management.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with vendor relations and negotiation.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to supply chain management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- IQMS experience is a plus.
