Assistant Producer - Audio

The Assistant Producer position exists to assist in the development and production of audio content for Focus on the Family.  Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  Researches potential broadcast topics and guests, and assists in topic and guest selection  Researches broadcast guest’s background information  Conducts phone interviews with possible broadcast guests and makes recommendations  Develops program ideas and writes proposals for recommended broadcasts  Assists producers with interview preparation, editing notes, and follow-up  Prepares re-air broadcasts by compiling updated information on the guest and topic, and by obtaining updated permissions  Assists in general departmental duties  Maintains awareness of Focus and non-Focus audio content  Other Duties/Responsibilities:  Perform other duties as assigned  Working Environment/Physical Requirements:  Office environment/recording studio Pressure associated with deadlineJOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Character/Spiritual:  Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...”Pursues the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayerPrays personally for Focus on the Family’s staff and constituents and may occasionally lead in a public prayerEngages in Christian ministryDemonstrates behaviors aligned with FOF core values Personal Characteristics:  Detail-oriented, thorough, flexible, articulate, logical, decisive, self-motivated, diplomatic, sensitive, considerate  Knowledge/Experience:  Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, English, Communications, or equivalent experience  Digital audio editing experience  0-2 years of experience in talk radio or equivalent  Knowledge of Focus on the Family’s mission, philosophy, values, and objectives  Skills, Abilities and Special Talents/Gifts:  Good verbal and written communication skills  Good critical, evaluative, and analytical listening skills  Ability to analyze, summarize and simplify complex research material  Digital audio editing proficiency  Awareness of social, political, and religious issues that impact the family  Excellent organizational skills  Ability to handle multiple projects and adhere to strict deadlines  Self-directed and highly motivated  Ability to work independently, yet also to be a team player  Well-developed social skills; tactful; ability to make good first impressions  Ability to flex with changing schedules and time pressure deadlines  Proficient in use of the Internet and word processing software   Salary Range: $24.00 to $27.50/hr.Focus on the Family puts a high value on our team members and offers a unique benefit package.Employees scheduled for 30 hours or more per week are eligible for: Medical PlanDental PlanLife InsuranceDisability InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountsEmployees scheduled for 20 hours or more per week are eligible for: Legal Shield/ID ShieldAFLACRetirement PlanVacation TimeSick TimeHolidaysService AwardsNote: This is a summary and should not be construed as future promises to continue to provide benefits as outlined above.
