The Custodian 1 position exists to clean and maintain building, facilities, campus, and equipment. Uses cleaning tools and products to create a neat, clean, and healthy working environment. Is in the process of learning correct custodial procedures and industry standards. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Works in teams and individually to perform general cleaning and floor care Collects and removes trash and recyclables including heavy lifting, sorting, and breaking things down Cleans and disinfects restroom facilities and replenishes all supplies Is responsible for cyclical cleaning of furniture, fixtures, walls, windows, blinds, sills, vents, etc. Washes interior glass surfaces, windows, doors, and tabletops Is aware of inoperable equipment and reports with clarity for timely repair Sweeps, mops, and vacuums all floor areas including- restrooms, break areas, entrances, hallways, cubicle areas, conference rooms, offices, and studios Uses upright vacuums, wide area vacuums and backpack vacuums as assigned Able to learn and implement preventative and routine maintenance of custodial equipment Exhibits proficiency in ‘No-Touch’ restroom cleaning and equipment to be used Disinfects high touch areas ministry wide as part of an infection control program Seasonally cleans in, around, and outside of all entrances to address leaves, salt and water tracked throughout buildings Maintains wood and metal finishes Operate washer and dryer machines, fold, sort and resupply cleaning cloths and mops as part of in-house microfiber laundry program Other Duties/Responsibilities: Must have reliable transportation Performs other duties as assigned Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass a Post Offer Prehire Physical exam and annual Fit-For-Duty test Must be able to carry, lift, push and pull up to 50lbs Must be able to walk 7 hours/day and sit 1 hour/day Requires repetitive tasks/motions, good eye-hand-foot coordination, and good manual dexterity Must be able to hear alarms/phone/tape recorder/normal speaking voice Exposure to various conditions such as cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, and bodily waste Frequently requires climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, crouching, balancing, and reaching above the head JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTSCharacter/Spiritual: Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...”Pursues the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayerPrays personally for Focus on the Family’s staff and constituents and may occasionally lead in a public prayerEngages in Christian ministryDemonstrates behaviors aligned with FOF core values Personal Characteristics: Must be detail oriented, dependable, self-motivated, and team focused Must have an even temperament that allows for working in a high-pressure, high-visibility environment Must possess timeliness and punctuality for duration of each shift Knowledge/Experience: 0 – 6 months experience Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts: Ability to read and write the English language, to comprehend and follow printed and verbal instructions Ability to establish and maintain rapport with employees in other departments Ability to work under direct supervision, in teams by following standard procedures Ability to operate various custodial equipment Salary Range: $15.00 to $17.00/hr.*This position is eligible for a Hiring Bonus* Focus on the Family puts a high value on our team members and offers a unique benefit package.Employees scheduled for 30 hours or more per week are eligible for: Medical PlanDental PlanLife InsuranceDisability InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountsEmployees scheduled for 20 hours or more per week are eligible for: Legal Shield/ID ShieldAFLACRetirement PlanVacation TimeSick TimeHolidaysService AwardsNote: This is a summary and should not be construed as future promises to continue to provide benefits as outlined above.
