Job Overview
The position of Accounting Manager serves to assist the managing partners in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the financial records for multiple companies within MAF Hospitality. The Accounting Manager will supervise, monitor, and evaluate day-to-day accounting activities. In addition, this position is responsible for establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting
financial information in a wide variety of accounting needs within hospitality, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, and interstate commerce. This position requires successfully being able to work on multiple projects for the companies in an organized and timely fashion. There is an expectation of 40 hours per week within the position as a Full-Time employee.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
- BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Intuit QuickBooks/[AB3] Enterprise Solutions Experience in a multi-company environment
- Working knowledge of accounting software, accounting principles, and financial analysis
- Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills with the ability to oversee multiple tasks
- Strong diligence
- Great critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Advanced knowledge of computers - MS Office is required and ability to learn new software programs as needed; openness to learning new software, including hospitality point of sale systems
- Able to establish and maintain effective relationships and communicate efficiently
Duties and Responsibilities
Management Tasks
- Train and supervise all bookkeeping staff
- Oversee bookkeeping staff regarding customer invoicing, cash receipts/accounts receivable, vendor billing, cash disbursements/accounts payable, daily cash reconciliations, daily check runs, payroll calculations and 1099 compliance
- Direct responsibility for trust account compliance, general ledger, inventory control, debt management, fixed asset management, budget management
- Work with senior management to ensure accurate cost accounting for hospitality, manufacturing, and resale divisions
- Communicate regularly and effectively with owners and senior management
- Monitor key performance indicators and recommend financial accounting objectives
- Maintains open line of communication with staff and assures reporting is up to date
Administrative Tasks
- Review and analyze budget reports, cash flow reports, and financial statements
- Review and analyze insurance requirements, anticipate, and coordinate insurance audits
- Anticipate and coordinate financial audits
- Manage and organize data required to substantiate tax audits
- Comply with federal, state, and local tax reporting and reporting schedules
- Adhere to accepted accounting principles, methods, and policies
General Office Tasks
- Review records of insurance requirements and processed monthly billings from insurance providers
- Other related duties as assigned
Environmental/Physical requirements
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment
- Physical ability to kneel, bend and perform light lifting
- Ability to write and speak clearly using the English language to convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
