Job Purpose
The Bottle Shop Manager ensures staff is greeting customers promptly and courteously; guiding customers to wines they enjoy; setting up and cleaning up daily operations and special events; stocking wine and retail merchandise in the tasting room; accurately performing daily, monthly and quarterly wine inventory and related money handling procedures.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of wine and winetasting experiences preferred
- Minimum 2 to 5 years experience in a retail setting; management roles preferred
- Must possess strong leadership skills.
- Solid track record of success in previous assignments demonstrating upward career tracking.
- Strong communication skills, bi-lingual in Italian is a plus, but not required.
- Must be dependable, reliable and motivated.
- Computer Knowledge a must
- Winery / Tasting Room experience
- A team player and possess “can do” leadership attitude
- Highly motivated, independent and able to take direction well
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to communicate and delegate well
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Ability to develop, implement, and reach sales goals
- Detail oriented with excellent organization skills
- Previous management experience with a passion for wine and willingness to learn more
- RAMP certification required and maintained
Duties and Responsibilities
General
- Unlocking and locking of the facility as per schedule
- Inventory control – Track all wine moved from tax paid to TR for sale
- Fill bar order – track wine from TR to bar
- Complete monthly wine inventory of TR and sales report for wine to move
- Manage and facilitate TR events
- General merchandizing and inventory control
- Track wine after it has left TR
- Manage operations of the wine club including pickup in addition to assist the wine club concierge with wine club events, i.e. barrel tastings, dinners, tours, etc.
- Oversee the opening/closing procedures
- Manage the inventory of wines and gift shop items
- Assist in planning/coordinating remote tastings if need be
- Other duties as necessary, i.e. harvesting, working in the winery, shipping of wine for online orders, labeling wines, etc.)
- Assist with the Tasting Lounge operations in the absence of the Lounge Manager
Administrative
- Staffing TR: wine educators, cashiers and training of staff
- Schedule staff for daily operations of TR
- Oversee scheduling for all TR staff
- Monitor and provide feedback to staff on sales progress
Team Development
- Works closely with department managers to coordinate scheduling staff efficiently, and overseeing labor costs
- Work with managing partners to develop TR staff training program
- Train TR staff on all information pertaining to Folino Estate Vineyard & Winery, its wines and how to create a memorable visitor experience that builds brand loyalty
- Train staff on suggestive selling techniques to increase wine sales
- Learn the POS system and train staff on system as well
- Train staff in promoting membership to our wine club
- Attend team meetings
Customer Service
- Wine education – facilitate training for Wine education
- Coordinate with TR staff to efficiently manage visitors
- Provide the latest information on the wines, techniques, etc. and be able to respond to visitor questions.

Physical Requirements:
- Able to work ten hour-plus shifts, with extended standing/walking.
