What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nigh Watchperson position at Fond du Lac County?
Maintains security and cleans administrative offices of Highway Department Main Fond du Lac Garage. Remains on alert for changing weather conditions, monitors internet based radar for weather, answers telephone and radio calls and takes messages, maintains records and calls out employees for mobilization of routes for winter highway maintenance operations. Seasonal position from approximately November 21st - April 2nd. Schedule would be 4 nights on, 4 nights off, working 6 hours per night, midnight to 6 AM. A pre-employment drug and an ongoing random drug and alcohol testing program is in effect.
- Required to monitor weather conditions, operate computer by checking and updating internet based radar for changing weather patterns, receive and interpret forecasts and keep management informed on potential changing hazardous weather conditions.
- Required to hear and answer telephone calls and take messages gathering all information correctly and legibly.
- Required to hear and answer radio calls and take information correctly and to relay clear and concise instructions.
- Need to be able to call out employees in specific and correct order in a timely fashion.
- Need to specifically, accurately and legibly document call out list when employees have been contacted and arrive at outlining and main garages and leave and punch out at the end of shift.
- Monitor security of building by checking doors, gates and turn off unnecessary lights throughout the building.
- Be able to do cleaning, vacuuming, dusting and emptying office garbage cans on clear nights.
- Sort time slips and put in order.
- Be able to multi task.
- Possible additional office tasks may be added.
- Observe and check building heating and equipment operations and report any observed issues.
