What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist position at Food and Drug Administration?
This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of Pharmaceutical Quality (OPQ), Office of Program and Regulatory Operations (OPRO), Division of Organizational Excellence, Learning, and Professional Development (DOELPD), Learning and Professional Development Branch (LPDB). The incumbent of this position serves as an Education and Training Specialist for several drug quality training programs sponsored by OPQ.
To qualify for the Education Specialist, GS-1701-13, you must meet the Basic Requirements listed below and the Specialized Experience:
Basic Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed one of the following (A or B).
A. A bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
GS-13: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level or equivalent band level of responsibilities in the Federal Service, which includes: (1) Using knowledge of learning theory to exercise independent judgment in recognizing existing or potential problems, analyzing alternatives, finding solutions regarding scientific education and training AND (2) providing expert advice in planning, managing, analyzing, and evaluating training program operations, processes, goals and objectives.
