General Summary:

Supervises the daily activities for the Food Services department, including patient, and retail meal services. Serves as the liaison between Food & Nutrition services and Bayhealth customers for all services

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

1) Develops and implements work schedules, making adjustments based on needs of operation.

2) Ensures all meals for patients and visitors are served in a timely manner and workflows are fully executed.

3) Observes food quality, conducts taste testing assessments and temperature assessments as needed.

4) Implement retail programs with specific diagrams, menus, signs, and staff training, as required. Posts retail menus weekly.

5) Regularly inspects all service and processing areas to ensure equipment is in working order and supply levels support the daily operation.

6) Adheres to all cash handling procedures throughout the day. Reports to management and team for any cash shortages and overages and documents appropriately.

7) Ensures safety and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the department. Conducts regular sanitation walk-through inspects.

8) Oversees staff as assigned.

9) All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:


High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification


Formal training in culinary art.



Experience:


1 year experience in commercial or institutional food service establishment; including 6 months of food services supervisory experience (in lieu of 6 months supervisory experience, must have completed Internal Supervisor On-the-Job Training Program).


1 year supervisory experience in a commercial or healthcare food service establishment.



Computer/Software Knowledge:


Basic computer literacy


Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Intranet, Star Systems.



Licensure/Certification


Must pass Serve Safe Certification within 120 days of hire or transfer into position


Serve Safe Certified


Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Basic supervisory skills; able to delegate tasks and supervise food service staff.
  • Knowledge of: documentation, evaluations, scheduling and cash handling
  • Possess working knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
