Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance.  "Join us in our mission to serve the poorest of the poor." 

The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for the design, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of programs that build employee and leadership competencies to improve individual, team and organizational effectiveness.  

Duties: 

  • Design, develop, coordinate, deliver, evaluate, and lead training programs that support organizational goals and strategic objectives.  Incorporates classroom, blended learning, eLearning, webinar and other training methodologies to meet the professional development needs of staff and leaders throughout the organization.   
  • Manage the company Learning Management System (LMS) to load courses, communicate with participants, and track registration and attendance.
  • Collaborate with managers to create training and development programs to increase employee development, productivity, and retention.
  • Create, manage, and deliver onboarding and mentor programs for new hires.
  • Provide and/or lead on-going training to existing team members.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and make/review recommendations.
  • Develop and manage employee engagement program.
  • Ensure necessary training budget allocations are available and approved.
  • Be a champion for creating a highly productive and passionate culture.
  • Develop a means of measuring the effectiveness of training programs by creating evaluations, soliciting feedback from participants, monitor enrollment and attendance.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and deliver training programs
  • Experience in public speaking – in front of the room facilitation and training others
  • Strong execution (pragmatic, well organized, efficient)
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Must be able to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Enthusiasm for innovative HR solutions and process improvement
  • The ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures with a mindset for continuous improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Must lead by example and maintain neutrality when working through HR issues and topics
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours when needed
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Organizational Development or other related discipline. 
  • Five to ten years of training technologies and methodologies experience.
