Agency Summary: Food Outreach is a nonprofit, founded in 1988, that provides Medically Tailored Meals and nutrition services to enhance the quality of life of men, women and children living with HIV or cancer. The organization covers 160 Missouri and Illinois zip codes, encompassing seven counties. Our services are unduplicated in Missouri and western Illinois.
Team Compensation: Our clients, volunteers and mission inspire us every day! Annual salary range of $44,000 - $49,000 commensurate with experience.
Primary Purpose: This position is an integral part of the client services team. The Operation Manager oversees all aspects of operations, including emergency management planning, risk management, facilities management, equipment maintenance (vehicles, forklift, HVAC), security, grounds and janitorial services.
Essential Functions of the Operations Manager
Facilities
- Oversee all facility maintenance (interior and exterior), including janitorial, parking lot, landscaping care, snow removal, kitchen equipment, office furnishings, disaster management planning and risk management.
- Monitor and maintain building security, including maintaining locks, staff door fobs and keys, security codes, video surveillance, and the alarm system. Serve as the alarm company's primary contact after hours.
- Maintain all agency equipment such as blast freezers, reach-in freezers, and coolers.
- Oversee bid outs for large capital purchases as required for federal, state, and local grant funding.
- Maintain all agency vehicles including regular maintenance schedules, registration renewals, repairs, and inspections.
- Schedule regular maintenance on forklift and other warehouse, kitchen and grocery center equipment.
- Ensure all supplies utilized in the facility are in stock (bathroom, laundry, and other cleaning supplies).
- Coordinate directly with the Director of Development to expend restricted grant funding for capital and equipment as needed.
Vendors
- Mange invoicing for vendors and ensures proper payment through the agency’s managed accounting services.
- Ensure our agency’s mission and values are lived by the vendors with whom we work.
- Conduct regular bid outs to ensure maximum cost savings and quality for agency to meet annual budget.
- Take part in annual agency budget planning by providing input for expense projections.
Information Technology (IT)
- Serve as direct contact with the agency’s Managed IT Service Provider to coordinate computer replacement/upgrade rotation schedule and purchases of hardware as needed.
- Manage the agency’s software solutions for inventory, client data, POS, and home delivery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of food service management, food safety, sanitation, and quality control.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, budget management, oral and written communication skills, and computer skills.
Position Qualifications:
- Experience in nonprofit, volunteer-supported community organizations.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in operations with nonprofit operations highly preferred.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships.
- Must have facilities management experience.
- Must have inventory management experience.
- Knowledge of computer networking and hardware.
- Forklift certification (will be provided if candidate does not have certification).
Special Requirements
- Ability to take on additional tasks as assigned and required by organizational needs.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as well as have reliable transportation.
- Food Outreach requires all employees to provide proof of being fully vaccinated from COVID-19, with a vaccine approved for use in the United States, prior to their first day of employment.
Position Time Schedule:This is a full-time, in-person position governed by personnel policies related to full-time staff. Availability to work or respond to emergencies on short notice required.
This person is directed/supervised and evaluated by the Senior Director of Development & Strategic Initiatives
