Part-time RN (30 to 35 hours a week) needed for Pediatric Telephone Triage
Pediatric practice located near Barnes Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital is looking for a Part-time Registered Nurse to do telephone triage.
In this role, the RN takes calls for 7 physicians along with other triage nurses to assist with incoming patient questions by phone or computer, provide physician instructions, assist with medication refills, acquire pre-certs/prior authorizations for patient needs, review lab work and report test results to patients, assessing symptom based phone calls and document patient calls according to office routine, scheduling acute visits, providing education to patients/parents, placing referrals, and placing physician orders.
Qualities:
- The applicant must be a registered nurse.
- Technical qualities should include broad based knowledge of general nursing practice, ability to adapt to physician preferences, ability to use different resources, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate critical thinking skills, organizational and analytical skills, and perform accurate and complete documentation.
- Desired qualities include flexible schedule, professional phone etiquette, interact with others in a professional manner, active listening skills and empathy towards others, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency using computer programs is essential.
- Experience with EPIC, Allscripts (EMR), GE/IDX and Microsoft Word preferred.
- Must be licensed in the State of Missouri.
