Your New Role – Wildland Fire Supervisor Our work is meaningful. You’ll be supporting an agency completing critical forestry work across the state. Oregon is proud of its forests, and our staff are proud of the work we accomplish to protect, manage, and promote forest stewardship. As the Wildland Fire Supervisor you will : Provide oversight and program management of pre-suppression/readiness by planning, coordinating, conducting and leading projects. Supervise employees engaged in field activities accomplishing prevention, pre-suppression, suppression, and ensuring maintenance of equipment and facilities. Deliver fire line briefing for incoming resources. Complete, review, and process fire reports. Responsible for recruitment, selection, and training of staff. Coordinate with cooperators and stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications: Note: Some positions are required to successfully take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the moderate level. Five years of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatching which includes one year of leading/supervising the work of others OR Bachelor's degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field and two year of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatching which includes one year of leading/supervising the work of others. Requested Skills: Experience leading/supervising the work of others. Experience with wildland fire suppression of emergency dispatching. Ability to work with limited direct supervision Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work with computers.
