Formosa Interactive is looking for a talented and motivated video editor with experience in gameplay capture, visual art and graphic design to join our growing studio. The right person will be a hybrid creative with a knack for storytelling and a strong work ethic. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day work, as well as being hands-on with ongoing projects across several styles and genres. The growing team will be working closely with the art director and art leads on the gaming industry’s top titles to capture and edit gameplay sequences to be used for video production.

The perfect candidate will have a photographic eye, a great sense of storytelling, and a desire to experiment and push the limits of the content that can be captured in-game.  You are familiar with shooting the same scene dozens of times to get just the right shot, sometimes layering in levels of complexity to make the final more interesting. You can work across several styles and genres and have a desire to deliver a high visual quality that delights our customers.

  • Capture stills of in-game, characters, locations, items, or events to be used for marketing assets.
  • Develop and present creative briefs, storyboards and other supporting presentations to help communicate your vision.
  • Location scouting/virtual set building - Determine and develop optimal in-game locations to be used for filming.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of videos of gameplay capture.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across all functional disciplines of the team.
  • Contribute to the consistency of the team's deliverables through regular critiques, feedback, and mentoring. 
  • Increase the team's skills through mentorship of skills, process, and artistic techniques.
  • Help grow a healthy, collaborative, fun and creative studio culture.

 

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in video editing with a background in game development in game capture, or similar discipline.
  • Portfolio/website demonstrating exceptional art skills and strong design sensibilities
  • Superior eye for light, value, color, composition, and details.
  • Capacity for understanding pixel art of all types - textures, UI and illustrations.
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator,  After Effects and Premiere Pro or similar design tools.
  • Excellent research and exploration methods that demonstrate creative problem-solving.
  • Able to produce hero assets that set the example for and inspire the team.
  • Can take direction and contribute to, interpret, and communicate visual direction with the team and the client with clarity and strong visual vocabulary.
  • Have shipped games on PC or console titles in a concept artist position.
  • Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.

 Pluses:

  • Be an avid gamer! 
  • Skill in one or more related disciplines – traditional art mediums.
  • Sculpting or modeling experience using 3D programs.

 

 Qualifications:
Education:

  1. High School education or equivalent required.
  2. BA/BS in applicable field preferred.
