What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Reliability Engineer position at Fortinet?
The Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and management of our systems. Keeping these scaling efficiently and effectively is the main responsibility of this person in this role. As a cloud hosted platform, we leverage multi-zone and multi-region deployments. The Site Reliability Engineer will work closely with the DevOps team to streamline deployments and releases and contribute to the evolution of the platform to new technologies and regions.
A Successful Site Reliability Engineer Will
- Own the uptime.
- Work fluently with docker, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Be responsible for site performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Be passionate about automation.
- Actively participate in process and system improvement activities, such as regularly scheduled reviews of operational issues and releases.
- Run load testing and performance prediction activities.
- Instrument and report on system performance.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure as code.
- Performing capacity planning.
- Work with the DevOps team for continuous improvement of our services.
- Work with the development team leads to identify and resolve performance issues.
- Track their work in ClickUp and prioritize work with the team, management, and company goals and objectives.
- Work within change management requirements.
- Schedule, monitor, and test disaster recovery processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or advanced in Computer Science or similar field.
- 6 years of experience in the field, with at least 3 managing cloud-based deployments.
- Have experience and a deep level of understanding of a variety of technologies including operating systems (Linux, other unix versions, Windows).
- Have experience with a number of software configuration management tools.
- Use containers and orchestration technology in their daily work.
- Coding in Python, unix shells, and other languages.
- Experience managing and monitoring various database technologies, including MySQL, other SQL databases, and related cloud database technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and gitops processes
- Ability to speak clearly & confidently about technology and internet concepts while interacting with other technical resources.
- Technical understanding of core Internet technology (DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTP, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, etc.).
- Strong network debugging skills.
- Deep experience running Linux or Unix in real-world production environments at scale, with at least some level of experience with basic Windows operation and administration.
- Maintain a team-oriented attitude and interest in working closely with other groups within the company.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to properly prioritize operations, customer impacting issues and project tasks.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$170,000. Fortinet offers employees a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), 11 paid holidays, vacation time, and sick time as well as a comprehensive leave program.
Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
All roles are eligible to participate in the Fortinet equity program, Bonus eligibility is reviewed at time of hire and annually at the Company's discretion.
