Machining 2 - 2nd Shift

1. Purpose of Position

Operate and adjust various machines and equipment to perform milling, drilling, boring, cutting, and similar machining operations on various parts and components.  Make routine set-ups and tool changes as required.

This position will be based out of Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s (the “Company”) corporate headquarters in Greensboro, NC; supporting the global operations function of Gilbarco, North America.

1. Key Responsibilities

    
   

• Operate, adjust, change tools, and perform routine set-ups on various traditional machine shop equipment to fabricate parts and components for subsequent assembly into product.

• Operate and change tools on automated and CNC machines and equipment; adjust controls for computerized operation.

• Perform functions and/or observe all company regulations and policies pertaining to safety, housekeeping, quality, ISO, teams activities, record keeping, material handling, material safety data, inventory systems, and preventive maintenance.

• Effectively communicate with peer groups, engineers, team members, managers, and customers.

1. Background and Skills
   

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Demonstrated PC user skills

• Demonstrated skills in use of hand tools, gauges, and bar coding and measuring instruments

• Ability to interpret blueprints by visualizing 3D perspective from one or two 2D views
